What we do
North Port Water Systems works on residential water treatment: softeners, whole-house filtration, point-of-use reverse osmosis, iron removal, sulfur odour treatment, and the repair and maintenance of systems already installed. We work with homes on the municipal utility and homes on private wells, and the two are genuinely different problems.
We are not a plumbing contractor, a well driller, a laboratory or a health authority, and we do not present ourselves as any of those. Water treatment starts downstream of the pressure tank, and where a job belongs to another trade we say so.
How we work
Every recommendation follows a measurement. That sounds obvious and it is not how a lot of this industry operates — plenty of systems get sold from a symptom description and a doorstep conversation, and a meaningful share of them were never going to fix the complaint they were bought for.
So the sequence is always the same: inspect the property and the existing plumbing, test at the tap, work out which of the overlapping problems is actually causing the symptom, then lay out the options including the cheap ones and the do-nothing one. You get the readings written down either way.
We also try to be straight about limits. Softeners do not remove sulfur. Carbon does not remove hardness. Whole-house treatment cannot fix odour generated inside your own water heater. Iron filters have to match the form of iron present. Saying that up front costs a few sales and prevents a lot of disappointment.

Why water treatment here is its own trade
Southwest Florida groundwater moves through limestone and other carbonate rock, which is why hardness is a near-universal starting point in this region rather than an occasional finding. The same geology contributes dissolved iron in some formations, and low-oxygen conditions combined with sulfur-bearing minerals produce hydrogen sulfide — the rotten-egg smell that dominates local conversation about well water.
None of that is unusual or alarming. It is the character of the water here, and it is treatable once you know which of it you actually have. That is the whole argument for testing first.
